Every winter there are basically two giant pains in the ass: tights and shoes. Tights deserve a separate post, but today we'll talk about shoes. There are days, when you have no other options except UGGs. Rainboots or snow boots would work as well, but not when you are trying to look professional. Therefore, we are stuck with UGGs. Of course, I still remember from my student years - those beautiful Italian fur-lined boots made of thin delicate leather, featuring thin plastic heels that broke as soon as you'd step on the ice that at least looked good with skirts. Back then, nobody had ever heard of the UGGs yet, people thought about elegance first and comfort second. Nowadays, things changed and we are stuck with the ugly, but practical, UGGs. So, let's make them work the professional wardrobe!

My idea was to stick with neutral color palette and keep everything within the business dress-code, except for the footwear. Choosing an outfit is tough in this situation, because there is no way UGGs would work with a classic suit, so you have to stick with smart separates. In my case, I chose a sweater dress with a blazer over it. And frankly speaking, I have no other ideas so far, which makes a sweater dress a staple for a cold-weather professional looking outfit. I am not saying this outfit will make an impression during an important meeting, but it will certainly save your feet from getting wet and cold in the 6 inches of snow.

Когда-то мы зимой, даже в самые лютые морозы, снегопады и гололед, мы носили прекрасные итальянские сапоги на каблуке, на меху, из тончайшей кожи. Они покрывались жуткими разводами от соли, их тонкие каблуки ломались на льду, но мы выглядели женственно и элегантно, а комфорт был где-то на последнем месте.

А сейчас мода сошла с ума, теперь на первом месте комфорт и унисекс, поэтому приходится носить угги. Даже в профессиональном дресс-коде надо как-то суметь вписать их и не выглядеть при этом лыжником. Я не говорю о важных встречах и переговорах, но когда надо в снег и лютый мороз добежать до работы, другая обувь не подойдет. И тут очередная дилемма: под что они ВООБЩЕ подойдут? К деловому костюму - точно нет, неважно с брюками он или с юбкой, ни к узким брюкам, ни к широким. Короче, у меня вообще пока только один вариант: платье-свитер. Получается, такое платье - это вообще некая база зимнего делового гардероба.

While everyone else is shopping for candy, teddy bears, heart-shaped balloons, and so on, my idea of this holiday is the same every damn year. I dress myself up in an all-pink outfit, buy a new pink lipgloss and enjoy myself for whatever reason. I love this holiday because it brings warmth and romance to the cold and gloomy February. It makes us think about love in all it's many many different faces...

Пока все вокруг закупаются конфетами, плюшевыми мишками и шариками в форме сердечек, у меня почему-то сложилась своя традиция: вырядиться во все розовое купить себе новый розовый блеск для губ и наслаждаться собой непонятно по какой причине. Люблю этот праздник за то, что он дарит тепло в середине холодного и мрачного февраля. И заставляет еще раз задуматься о любви во всех ее многочисленных проявлениях.

The more complicated the real world gets, the crazier my outfits are, the farther they get from reality. If there was no fashion, I don't even know where I would find my strength. Everyone needs a strong shell. The better you hide in it, the better you are equipped to face the real world. Because the real world is not a fairy tale. You have to fight and to work hard, and to work hard. You are not a princess and you better not expect some prince to throw the world at your feet. You need to be strong on your 

and somehow those princess outfits end up being the best attire for doing that.  Everything feminine, girly, silly, bright and unserious is your best friend. My tip for checking if the outfit is too much? I usually ask myself: would I dress my 3-year old daughter in this? If the answer is "No" - I am good!

Чем сложнее и прозаичнее реальный мир - тем более сумасшедшими становятся мои наряды.  Если бы не существовало моды,  я не знаю где я бы черпала свою силу.  Каждому нужна

 прочная скорлупа. Чем крепче она, тем проще будет одерживать победы в жизни. В реальном мире нет сказок, в реальном мире ты не принцесса, к ногам которой прекрасные принцы бросают весь мир. В реальном мире нужно самой твёрдо стоять на ногах, но 

никто не мешает делать это в наряде принцессы. Напротив, именно эти наряды  - наилучшая форма одежды! А чтобы не переборщить, у меня есть свой “лайфхак». Я задаю себе вопрос: одела ли бы я так свою трехлетнюю дочку? Если нет, то все в порядке!

So I went into a thrift store with an intention to find a cheap alternative to the popular and trendy slip dress. My idea was to find some satin party gown in simple style and remove all the embellishments and extra decor. Instead, I found this silk dress in a few sizes bigger than I need, but still fitting pretty well... And I decided to pretend it was a slip dress! Of course, the silhouette and the length work a little bit against me making me look pregnant and fat legged, but my fashion choices are always first about the concept, and not the fit issues.

В общем, я отправилась в секонд в поисках модного нынче платья-комбинации. Я планировала найти там какое-нибудь сатиновое вечернее платье и просто отпороть с него весь лишний декор и прочие ненужные детали. Вместо этого, я нашла вот такое шелковое платье на пару размеров больше. Оказалась вполне себе платье-комбинация! Конечно, силуэт и длина не совсем мне подходят но мои модные решения - это прежде всего идея, а уже потом будем думать о фигуре!
