Fashion is an art, and art never comes from comfort. Real masterpieces aren't born from artists feeling comfortable and relaxed - they have to be felt and put through the artist's soul, sometimes even to be suffered and to be painful. In every single art, the masterpieces are born from being challenged, and tested by life and being put through hardships and going against your comfort zone. Then, why are we diminishing fashion to the freaking feeling of comfort? What does it have to do with having to win your everyday battles, to achieve success, to do more that a human being is even capable of?
When has a war armour ever been comfortable? Or a military uniform? Or a business suit? Do powerful politicians even sign any life-changing laws wearing their bathrobe? To businessman ever handle important negotiations in their track pants? Why shall we?
Nothing good, or meaningful, or spectacular ever comes from being in a comfort zone. Is there anybody who wants just to "comfort" their way through life? Don't we all want to succeed, to get to the top, to achieve our goals, to do our best? And for us, women, it does mean to look our best. Fashion is not just about covering ourselves with something. It is about how we present ourselves to the world, and that always comes from the way we feel inside. And that feeling shall not be comfort. It can be excitement, it can be challenge, it can be dignity, it can be strength, it can be anxiousness, ot even fear. In topics like this, I loike to refer to Scarlett O'Hara: one of the strongest and the most brilliant female characters ever. I know she lived in a different fashion epoque, but, really: would you
even imagine her wearing leggings nowadays?!
I am not talking about using your appearances to succeed in life. That is so diffferent I am trying to say, that you appearances are like like your inner fuel, your inspiration. Loose sweatpants will not give you that, nothing comfortable ever will. But a tight fit and flare dress? A long skirt? A crisp white shirt? These clothing items will not give you comfort, but they will make you LOOK pulled together, but, more important, they will make you FEEL it.
I want to finish with an example I got directly from my everyday life. I was in a grocery store wearing this outfit, and a woman came up and complimented me on my dress. It was great, but then she asked ... if I was going to a wedding? That upsets me so much. First, how is this an appropriate outfit for a wedding? I am wearing CLOGS, for God's sake! Second, how did we come up to the point, when the only event to dress up for is SOMEBODY ELSE'S wedding?
Люблю смотреть всевозможных блогеров о моде и стиле, но как же задолбало это "комфортно - удобно" через каждое слово! Вообще, разве в русском языке это не одно и то же? Ну ладно, пост не об этом. Он о том, что в удобстве вообще-то нет ничего хорошего, полезного или каким-либо образом имеющего отношение к моде. Мода - это искусство, а искусство не рождается в комфорте. Оно рождается в душевных исканиях и страданиях, в отрыве от реальности, в возвышении над земным и повседневным.
Разве бывают удобными рыцарские доспехи? Или военная форма? Или деловой костюм? Или свадебное платье? Тем не менее, именно в свадебном платье женщина чувствует себя принцессой, самой красивой на свете и ... самой счастливой.
Никогда влиятельные бизнесмены не ведут важные переговоры и не подписывают контракты в трениках, а политические лидеры не принимают судьбоносные законы в спортивных шортах. Невозможно быть собранным, серьезным и сильным в удобной одежде. Удобная одежда никогда не даст того чувства, которое даёт пышное платье, или деловой костюм, или длинное платье, или ... высокие каблуки! Каблук — это, пожалуй, самое понятно средство для то того, чтобы объяснить суть сегодняшнего поста: разве для удобства мы надеваем высокие каблуки...
Закончу историей из жизни. Зашла я в таком виде в супермаркет. И тут ко мне подходит женщина, говорит, какое красивое платье, и спрашивает: «Вы, наверное, идёте на свадьбу?” Вот это повергло меня в шоки разочарование. Во-первых, разве на мне наряд «на выход»? Я, черт возьми, в деревянных клогах! Во-вторых, как обидно, что мы дошли до того, что поводом для женщины надеть мало- мальски женственное платье, может быть лишь чья-то чужая свадьба...
