An Unexpected Raving Review/

I didn't want to try it. I didn't want to like it. I mean, who wants to like a 100 $ cream? Seriously.

It's ingredient list goes against all the Beautypedias of the world. Alcohol, loads of silicones and fragrance. It has no magical ingredients to moisturise, treat or nourish anything.

It just feels amazing when you use it. Against all of the above.

I got a deluxe sample of this cream when I recently bought the new Dior Air Powder.  I brought the Dream Skin Serum home, got curious, read the ingredients list and was discouraged. Ingredients aside, I am not a big fan of all that high-end skincare: from what I tried, it is all about pretty packaging and bold promises, but in essence - everything comes up to loads of fragrance an nothing your face. And I don't care AT ALL about any pretty packaging, cute pink bottles, loads of wraps and boxes. I don't care about these in makeup - and I care even less in Skincare! And of course, it is not about the beautiful model Nadia Auermann being the face of this product's ad.

Dior Dreamskin is different. It is not just another high-end cream in a pretty bottle that smells good. I apply it and I feel SKINCARE! It is indeed, a dream coming true: a cream that feels nourishing and rich when you apply it, but then it magically dissapears leaving your skin feeling soft and smooth, and ready for make-up. It is nothing like those sticky foundation primers, nothing like those wet and never absorbing moisturizers. Dior Dream Skin gives just what is called skincare. And you might hate me right now, but the purpose of skincare is to prepare your skin for makeup. We are talking mornings, of course (though I, personally wouldn't mind using it evenings as well!).
Of course, I was curious enough to read a few reviews (not just the Beautypedia one). They mostly say it is just an illusion that this cream gives. Some visual illusion of your dream skin come true. They even say it is meant to be used as primer. Well, I DISAGREE. I look in the mirrow and what I see is not an illusion  - it is real. My real skin. My real skin looking and feeling the way I want it to look and to feel. And calling Dream Skin a primer? That is a real offense, by the way. Primers are sticky pore-clogging products that only mess up your foundation (sorry, people, I just tried so many of them). Dior Dream Skin is the opposite: it absorbs quickly and tracelessly, so you foundation literally applies over your skin, not over some tricky product.

I can't believe it! Dior has changed my religion!

For the first time in my life I feel like splurging for a skincare item. It would be so good to stop being obsessed about ingredients and reviews and just enjoy using a cream you like! Am I going to do it? I don't know.
I'll keep you posted!

Dior Dream Skin.
