Where My Home Is.../ Где мой дом...

I used to be CRAZY about traveling. I adored airports, hotels, gas stations, planning trips and making lists of what to pack. I found this unexplainable exitement in eating fast food at a bus station in the middle of nowhere, buying a cold pre-packaged sandwich from a vending machine at a gas station, drinking ridiculously expensive coffee from a paper cup at the airport in a hurry, which seemed like the best coffee in the world...

As for now, I hate travelling. For all the baggage you bring back from every trip. The emotional baggage.

I've been traveling abroad since I was 9. Since the moment when I, a 9-year old Soviet girl, was put on a plane and send to a summer camp in Italy. I have to confess: I've never been at a "Soviet" summer camp. But I've been to ones in Germany, Netherlands, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Chech Republic. No, my parents weren't billionaires. They just wanted to show me the world. And yes, I've seen it. And I've seen how different it was from Home. And then, a Dream was born.

It came true 20 years later. But instead of giving me wings to fly (isn't that what a dream coming true supposed to do?), it threw me back to the ground. And it hurts.

They say, whenever we travel, we become richer. Yes we do, but not in an easy and carelless way. We obtain the emotions, the impressions, the knowledge, but we lose the Home.

What does this all have to do with a fashion blog, you might ask? Well, today I am wearing (proudly!) a dress made in Belarus paired with Prada sandals, and they match! I had doubts about this outfit, but this simple linen dress is so well-made and chic, and the green suede sandals are so down to earth - and that's what brings them closer. I was so determined to put these two in one outfit, that if everything else failed - I'd be telling you about how I played with contrasts. But this is not a contrast, this is a match! So that gives me hope that perhaps two homes will also one day find their place in my heart and bring me peace?
