Not only I instantly fell in love with the entire Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2015 campaign as soon as saw the fashion show.

Not only because it is dedicated to Mama (because as soon as you be become one, the Motherhood really takes your life over).

But mostly because this collection definitely sends a "happy" vibe. Bright colors, fun prints, cute little purses, interesting hairstyles, feminine and bold makeup. And that collection actually sends a great and very important message on what motherhood has to be, and what a mother really SHALL look like.

I personally was forced to get this idea early in my motherhood. I talked about it a lot before in my blog, how makeup and fashion have been helping me through with my whole having-a-special-needs-child situation.

And here we come to the actual question the D&G collection made me think of: am I PERSONALLY allowed to be happy!?

Sounds stupid, I know. But the whole world seems to think the opposite! Ok, at least this particular part of the world I live in. I walk out of the door with my son, an looking at us, everyone feels at least SORRY. God, I HATE SORROW! It is the worst feeling in the world! Feeling sorry for someone means acknowledging their weakness and their misery.

It is fine to feel sorry about kids abandoned by their parents. It is ok to feel sorry about kids neglected or abused by their parents. It is ok to feel sorry for tortured animals, cats and dogs in shelters, etc.

But why, WHY would you feel sorry for a grown up, healthy and good-looking woman? A woman who is happily married and has a happy 7-year-old boy? Oh, yes, that boy has cerebral palsy! Poor is
the boy, and poor is his mother! No future, no relief, a "cross they bear..."

That part about the cross irritates and infuriates me the most. Who are you, people - God?! Who are you to decide and to evaluate peoples lives and destinies?! You want to feel sorry for me so you can feel better about yourselves, right? Or, is it you wanting me to disappear from your sight with my "miserable" child so we don't disturb the image of the perfect world around you?

So, guess what: I AM allowed to be happy. I won't be sitting at home feeling sorry for myself and my miserable destiny. I WILL go out in my crazy HAPPY outfits and I will eventually learn not to notice your "sorry" looks!

P.S. I know, that for my readers in the US and Western Europe the whole issue of this post might seem exaggerated. I've been there and I've seen a HUGE difference. Here, in the "Soviet" part of the world we are so far back.

  5. Sadly, I think this kind of attitude exists everywhere, just at some places people are more open with what they think....but in this case, it would be better if they were not that open because it is impolite and annoying. I really hate it when I see people pity children with special needs because those people should really feel sorry for themselves if they don't realize that children with special needs are the bravest and most wonderful beings on this planet. We should all admire them not feel sorry for them...I hope that someday people will learn that feeling sorry for somebody is not love, it is the very opposite of love, it is arrogance.

I'm glad you decided not to care about those people...and you look gorgeous in that dress! such a positive outfit!!!!
